How many custom domains can I add?
Custom domains are capped by plan — 1 on Starter, 5 on Studio, Max, and Team, unlimited on Enterprise, and none on the free plan. Here's the exact allowance and how to raise it.
Custom domains are limited by plan, and the limit counts per app. Here is the exact allowance:
| Your plan | Custom domains per app |
|---|---|
| Free | 0 — custom domains need a paid plan |
| Starter ($39/mo) | 1 |
| Studio ($99/mo) | 5 |
| Max ($199/mo) | 5 |
| Team | 5 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
So if you're on Starter and you already have one domain connected, that's your limit — you're not looking at a bug or a missing button. Moving to Studio or higher raises it to 5.
www does not use up a second slot
This is the part that trips people up, and it's good news: when you connect a bare domain like myrecipes.com, the www.myrecipes.com version is set up automatically, on the same domain slot. You don't add it separately and it doesn't count against your allowance.
You also can't add www.myrecipes.com as its own entry — if you type it in, it's treated as myrecipes.com, because they're the same connection.
That means one domain slot already covers the most common setup: your domain, plus www, plus automatic redirects and the security certificate.
What per app
means
The allowance applies to each app separately, not to your whole account. On Studio, five domains for App A and five for App B is fine — that's within plan.
What you'll see when you hit the limit
If your app is already using its full allowance, adding another is refused with a message naming your plan's number — for example Custom domain limit reached (1 for pro plan). Upgrade to add more.
On the free plan you'll instead see Custom domains require a Pro plan or higher.
A note on plan names: the plan sold as Starter is still called Pro in a few places inside the product, including that message. They are the same $39/mo plan — nothing is wrong with your account.
Adding a second domain today
The Domains panel in the editor is built around one custom domain per app right now. Even on a plan that allows 5, you won't find an add another domain
button there yet — that's a known gap we're tracking, not a limit on your plan.
So if your plan allows more than one and you need a second domain connected:
- Contact support and tell us the app and the domain you want added. We'll get it connected for you.
- Or, if you build against the partner API, you can add domains directly there up to your plan's allowance.
We'll update this article as soon as the editor supports it directly.
How to raise your limit
Upgrade your plan from Account → Billing. The new allowance applies immediately — you don't need to reconnect the domain you already have.
- Starter → Studio takes you from 1 to 5
- Studio, Max, or Team → Enterprise removes the limit
Common questions
Can I add multiple domains to one app? Yes, if your plan allows it — 5 on Studio, Max, and Team, unlimited on Enterprise. On Starter it's 1. See the note above about adding the second one.
Can I point two different domains at the same app? Yes, within your plan's allowance. They all serve the same app.
Do I need a second domain just to get www working?
No. www is included automatically with the domain you connect.
Does a subdomain like app.mybiz.com count as a domain?
Yes — any domain or subdomain you connect uses one slot. (Its own www variant isn't applicable, so nothing extra is set up.)
I'm on a paid plan but there's no option to add a domain at all. Check that your app has been published to production first — the option appears once your app is live. If it's live and you still can't see it, contact support.
Does connecting a domain cost extra? No. It's included in your plan, along with the security certificate.
