Maltings runs a traditional Victorian floor maltings end to end — 4,800 tonnes of barley a year turned into pale ale, Maris Otter, Golden Promise, distilling and specialty malts for craft brewers and distillers. The Piece Board carries every piece moving through the house as a dense production row: piece number, barley variety and crop year, the farm and field it came from, tonnage in, current stage from steep through the three germination floors to kiln and despatch, hours in stage, bed depth and floor position, moisture, chit and acrospire length as a fraction of corn length, and hours to the next action. Barley Intake grades every delivery against contract spec — screenings, nitrogen, germinative capacity, admixture, skinned and split corns, pre-germination test — and names the rejecting parameter. Steeping schedules the four vessels' wet and dry cycles against steep-out moisture; the Germination Floors show each bed as a plan view with its temperature gradient, turning count and matting risk; Kilning plots the real free-drying, break and curing ramp with colour development in EBC and moisture off-kiln. Malt Analysis holds the laboratory sheet — hot water extract, fine-coarse difference, Kolbach index, friability, diastatic power, beta-glucan — each against the customer's spec with pass or fail. Contracts, despatch with full batch traceability, compliance, and a Brewer's Account portal with downloadable certificates of analysis and field-to-sack provenance complete the house. Bauhaus Dessau throughout: flat primary planes, drawn modular grid, geometric primitives used as diagram, and a hand-drawn process elevation of the works from intake hopper to despatch.
