Karstwork
Karstwork is the complete operations platform for a show cave and the speleological conservation trust that runs it — a 2.4 kilometre limestone system on the Ashfell massif with 780 metres of lit, boardwalked show route through the Cathedral Chamber and Mirror Pool, and wild passage beyond the Organ Loft open only to permitted cavers and researchers descending to the Deep Sump at minus sixty-four metres. It handles both halves of the job at once: a visitor attraction that must sell and run tours, and a designated conservation site that must protect what the visitors come to see. Ten modules ship seeded and working. The Tour Board runs today's departures by time, tour type, guide, party size, capacity and accessibility. Visitors & Bookings carries the booking ledger, group and school parties, annual passes and admissions yield. The Survey & Passage Register holds every surveyed leg — station pair, length, depth, BCRA grade, surveyor and condition. Conservation & Formations is the speleothem register: named stalactites, columns, flowstone, gour pools, straws and helictites with condition grade, breakage log, taping status and lampenflora infestation and treatment. Microclimate Monitoring watches the logger network for air temperature, humidity, CO2, drip rate, water level and radon with threshold breaches flagged. The Bat Colony module tracks roost counts by species and season against hibernation and maternity restrictions and licence conditions. Lighting & Infrastructure, Rescue & Safety, Permits & Designations, and a trust Member Portal complete it. The design is a strict 1970s National Park Service Unigrid in the Vignelli lineage — a solid black masthead band, a visible modular grid on limestone paper, flat cartographic panels in cave teal and signal ochre, letterspaced caps and tabular figures — anchored by a hand-drawn survey plate showing the passage system in plan with named chambers, the lit route solid and the wild passage dashed, a north arrow, a metric scale bar, and a sectional profile of the descent beneath. Remix it for any site where visitor operations and scientific stewardship have to share one set of books.
