Carnet

Carnet is travel-document and gear-manifest control for touring crews. A tour manager uses it to keep every passport, visa, work permit and ATA Carnet valid, and to make every border crossing survivable: who can legally enter which country on which date, whose passport is about to fall inside the six-month validity rule, and which flight cases are actually on the carnet manifest. It is a tracker, and the hard expiry math is the product. The design comes from airline ticketing and baggage-tag print culture — the IATA boarding pass, the interline tag, the customs declaration. Oswald and JetBrains Mono set dense all-caps field labels over hairline boxes, perforation lines and tear-off stubs do the dividing, a barcode rule motif acts as structure rather than decoration, and rubber border stamps in a saturated signal red mark VALID, CLEARED and BLOCKED. It reads as a document, not a dashboard, which is the point: this is the paperwork, made computable. The landing page opens inside the product as a live document — the actual Crossing Clearance Board for the next border crossing, one row per crew member showing masked passport number, expiry, months of validity remaining computed against that destination's six-month rule, the required visa or permit and its status, and a per-person CLEARED or BLOCKED stamp, rolling up to a single verdict for the crossing with every blocking reason enumerated. Behind it: per-person document detail with renewal lead-time warnings, a visa requirement matrix of crew nationalities against tour countries, a carnet gear manifest with serial numbers, declared value and per-country temporary-import status, the itinerary with documents due before each date, and a renewal queue sorted by real urgency. Remix it for anything where a person or an asset needs valid paperwork before a date: touring and live events, film and broadcast crews, freight and customs brokerage, offshore and construction workforces, licensed trades with certification expiry, fleet compliance, or any team that keeps a spreadsheet of things that expire.
