Exporting your data

Download any table in your app as a CSV, free, any time. Your data is yours.

Your data is yours, and you can download a copy whenever you want.

How to export a table

In the editor, open Data in the sidebar, click the table you want, then click Export. The download starts straight away.

You get a CSV file — the standard spreadsheet format. It opens in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or anything else that reads spreadsheets.

A few things worth knowing:

• You export one table at a time. If your app has five tables, that's five clicks and five files.
• Each export includes up to 50,000 rows. If a table is bigger than that, the file will hold the first 50,000 and a teammate can help you get the rest.
• It's completely free. Exporting doesn't use any credits, and it isn't limited by your plan — you can do it as often as you like.

Which formats can I get?

CSV, and only CSV. A CSV opens in every spreadsheet program, so in practice it covers what most people need.

To be straight with you about what we don't do:

• There is no .xlsx export — we don't produce native Excel files. Open the CSV in Excel and save it as .xlsx yourself if you need that format.
• There is no per-table JSON export.

Automatic and scheduled exports

There is no scheduled, recurring, or automatic export, and no way to have a backup emailed to you on a timetable. Exporting is something you do by hand, when you want it. If a regular backup matters to your business, tell our team what you need and we'll talk through the options.

Syncing to a spreadsheet

There is no live sync between your app and Google Sheets, Airtable, or any other spreadsheet. An export is a snapshot: it's the data as it stood the moment you clicked the button, and it won't keep updating.

Getting a copy of your app's code

Separately from your data, you can download your app's code. In the Publish dialog, choose Export as ZIP — you'll get a zip of your app's files. This is free and available on every account.

Pushing your code straight to a GitHub repository is something we're rolling out gradually, so it may not be available on your account yet. If you don't see it and you'd like it, get in touch and a team member can help.

What an export doesn't include

• Other apps — exports are per-app, and per-table
• Your app's code — that's the ZIP above, not the CSV

Leaving Overskill

If you ever decide to move on, export each of your tables and you'll have your data. There's no lock-in and nothing to ask permission for.
